Description:

Celebrate the Los Angeles Public Library’s Sesquicentennial as we kick off 150 days of special programs and activities!

Kickoff Program in the Taper Auditorium: 1:30 p.m.

Hear from guest speakers, travel through history, learn about special activities you can participate in, and raise your favorite book for a book toast. This portion of the program will also be streaming live on the library's YouTube channel.

Courtyard Reception: 2:30 p.m.

The festivities continue with music and refreshments to thank library patrons for their continued support.

Snapchat AR Experience at the Knowledge Pool: 3 p.m.

Join Snapchat representatives to explore “The Knowledge Pool,” an augmented reality experience that transforms the fountains outside of Central Library into portals for learning and discovery.

Octavia Lab Open House: 3 p.m to 5 p.m.

Take a tour, enjoy demonstrations, hands-on activities and take a commemorative photo using the green screen.

Join a “Friends” group. There is a “Friends of the Library” group for most branch libraries and departments of the Central Library. Friends groups raise money for improvements to their library through memberships, used book sales and other activities. For more information click here or talk to your local librarian.

Join the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds for Library enhancement programs such as adult and early literacy, children and teen reading clubs, technology, and cultural programs.
