The Redesigned Website

The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s (MDOT MVA) Highway Safety Office has launched the newly redesigned ZeroDeathsMD.gov website to make sure Marylanders have vital safety information right at their fingertips.

Among the new features are easily accessible statewide crash data, resources and toolkits designed to target the state’s identified program areas, as well as general information for law enforcement agencies, grantees, partners and all road users. The ultimate goal continues to be eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries by 2030.

Maryland Crash Data

Crash data is displayed with easy-to-read charts, broken out by statewide metrics. Major crash causes and jurisdictional breakdowns of crash data can assist agencies with identifying areas of concern. Additional databases including the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) and Fatality and Injury Reporting System Tool (FIRST), can be quickly accessed via links.

Highway Safety Digital Resource Library

MDOT has developed a digital resource library that includes monthly toolkits developed for partners across the state. These kits feature social media copy and creative ideas for social media – specifically Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Utilizing the filter feature allows users to quickly locate tools by program area. This section of the site will be updated regularly so visitors are encouraged to check back often to get access to the latest information.

Highway Safety Grant Application Assistance

Each year, the Maryland Highway Safety Office provides more than $11 million in state and federal grant funding to more than 90 traffic safety-related organizations and law enforcement agencies across the State. The new website provides guidance for both general safety and law enforcement grants, including a ‘How to Apply’ section and a recap on awardees of the most recent fiscal year.
