1. Grief-Readiness in Long Term Care, 2 hours

Monday September 11, 2:00-4:00pm, virtual

Death is a part of life. Working in an Adult Foster Home can be fulfilling, but it can also overexpose us to death, loss and grief. Often, we find ourselves without adequate time to acknowledge and honor the lives of those we care for. Learn the basics of grief literacy, practice skills on having conversations about death, receive tools to develop a grief-readiness plan, get ideas for rituals that honor the losses we experience as professionals, and learn about resources for support after traumatic losses.

2. Project Visibility: Older Adult LGBTQ+ Care in Long Term Care, 3 hours

Monday October 9, 1:00-4:00pm, virtual

Learn common terms and definitions including sexual orientation, gender identity, biological sex and everything in between. Learn about the "hidden" history of LGBTQ+ older adults and other issues that shape how older adults access care and support in LTC today. Get ready-to-implement tools and best practices that help create safer, more welcoming environments for this often invisible population. 3. Trauma-informed Long Term Care, 2 hours

Monday December 4, 1:00-3:00pm, virtual

This training will provide you with an understanding of how trauma is defined, how pervasive it is, and how it may affect the clients you work with.
