The idea of creating a State Museum came to fruition in 1905 when Gov. Samuel Pennypacker signed Act 43, officially creating The State Museum of Pennsylvania. The home of The State Museum opened in 1964. These videos will guide you, the virtual visitor, through exhibits that have fascinated crowds for more than 50 years. PHMC is celebrating 50 years of "Pennsylvania Heritage" magazine by posting stories from each decade. This 1984 article takes a deep dive into 17th century cooking found in commonwealth kitchens.
