  • Why socks & undies?

Socks and underwear are among the most frequently requested items by people experiencing homelessness or living in shelters.

Everyone deserves the dignity of having clean underwear and socks that fit them. And in Rhode Island winters, warm, thick socks are essential for the health and comfort of people experiencing homelessness.

From a warm winter coat to a new pair of socks, our mission is to make sure everyone has the warmth and dignity of basic necessities.

  • For more than 25 years, Buy Nothing Day has set up on the lawn of the State House the day after Thanksgiving to provide coats and warm winter gear to those who need it – no questions asked.

Whether taking a coat or donating one, you’ll always be met with a smile.

  • Everyone deserves the dignity of having clean socks and underwear that fit them. Since 2021, we’ve collected new, unopened first layers – some of the most frequently requested items by people living in shelters or experiencing homelessness.

We’re a grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit that’s powered by the donations and support of people like you.

Life's most persistent and urgent question is,
“What are you doing for others?”
