Feeding Pennsylvania is committed to supplying nutritious food and improving the health of community members. Through the PA Healthy Pantry Initiative, we work along with our member food banks to increase healthy food and beverage options available in food pantries. In addition to increasing access to nutritious food, nutrition educators work at the pantries to encourage consumption of those foods through environmental changes as well as direct nutrition education such as healthy food tastings, demonstrations, recipes, classes, and more.

Be sure to check out our Resources for Community Members page frequently for healthy tips and tricks, nutrition information, how to cook and prepare fruits and vegetables, and connections to additional resources and recipes.

In Partnership with PA Eats

In 2019, PA Eats developed the Nourish PA series to support Feeding Pennsylvania member food banks in the promotion and distribution of nutrition education resources to pantries across the Commonwealth. These resources are distributed through the PA Healthy Pantry Initiative. Learn more about our partnership!

Building Resilient Inclusive Communities Funding

The Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) partnered with the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) on the Building Resilient Inclusive Communities (BRIC) program. NACDD created BRIC to address health risk factors and community resiliency efforts as a response to the inequities made clear by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, including food and nutrition security and food system resiliency.  Read how PA Healthy Pantry Initiative participated in BRIC here.
