Tornadoes can happen with little or no warning. 🌪️ To better prepare for a tornado, OSHA is helping businesses develop an emergency plan for when severe weather strikes. https://lnkd.in/gTqs7pg

Helping Pennsylvanians transform the world of work – building, linking, working – that’s our PA!
About us
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry employs more than 5,000 workers in 200 offices statewide. Established in 1913, the department originally inspected the working conditions in factories around the state. Over time, the department's responsibilities expanded. L&I administers benefits to unemployed individuals, oversees the administration of workers' compensation benefits to individuals with job related injuries, and provides vocational rehabilitation to individuals with disabilities. The department prepares job seekers for the global workforce through employment and job training services for adult, youth, older workers, and dislocated workers. In addition, L&I enforces various laws and safety standards in the workplace and administers the commonwealth's programs for community service by young Pennsylvanians. L&I also promotes economic development and an improved business climate through a variety of initiatives and programs to help Pennsylvania's workforce remain world-class and globally competitive.

In the two years since its launch, the Shapiro Administration’s UC Connect program has served more than 75,000 Pennsylvanians, offering in-person customer service to Unemployment Compensation claimants who have lost a job through no fault of their own. With bipartisan support in the 2023-24 budget, L&I was able to hire more than 380 additional UC interviewers to staff service centers and answer calls—resulting in shorter wait times and timely customer service. https://lnkd.in/dfze6VcB

Safety is top priority, especially when it includes our children. As summer break approaches, L&I is reminding workers under 18 to know their rights and urges employers to familiarize themselves with Pennsylvania Child Labor Act to ensure full compliance ahead of the summer job season. With a sharp increase in labor law violations in the Pennsylvania, Governor Shapiro’s proposed 2024-2025 budget would enhance child worker protections by expanding the team that enforces Pennsylvania’s labor laws. https://lnkd.in/e97eC-ZY
