Congratulations to Slate Hill Cemetery for its 2023 Community Initiative Award win! The cemetery, an intact Colonial-era graveyard established in 1690 as a Quaker burial ground, was expanded to include Lower Makefield Township's first public cemetery. It contains about 580 burials, including veterans of the U.S. Colored Troops who served in the Civil War. The earliest known burial dates to 1698 and the last known burial was in 1918. #PreservationHappensHere https://lnkd.in/eN2WsueK

Chester, Pa. is home to the oldest public building in the nation. Built in 1724, the Colonial Courthouse, celebrating its 300th birthday this year, served as the Chester County Courthouse, originally — before Delaware County was carved from Chester County. The courthouse, built during the reign of King George I of England, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. #Archives #Postcard #PreservationHappensHere

To be clear, William Penn did not introduce brewing to Pennsylvania. However, in 1685, he requested that a brewhouse be constructed at Pennsbury Manor. #PAHeritage50 - https://bit.ly/3WDBEA8
