As shared from HUD Exchange:
Street Outreach serves a critical role in the homeless response system, often reaching people who aren’t accessing services in any other way. Incorporating a housing focus into street outreach programs improves outcomes for persons experiencing unsheltered homelessness by eliminating the need to first enter emergency shelter, and instead directly connecting them to safe, stable, permanent housing. Implementing housing-focused street outreach requires a shift from the historical practices of outreach that have focused primarily on addressing basic needs and connection to shelter through light touch services to a more trauma-informed and service intensive model that includes housing navigation.
This webinar series provides an overview of the basics of housing-focused street outreach, highlights communities that are effectively addressing unsheltered homelessness using housing-focused street outreach models and provides clear guidance for shifting the focus of outreach to housing both on the ground and at the system level.

Attention Case Managers: BHA Section 8 Waitlist
If you are on BHA’s Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist or know someone who might be, BHA is currently updating our records and needs to know who is interested in staying on the waitlist.
To save your spot with “Save My Spot”:
Around January 15, letters about “Save My Spot” were mailed out to applicants on the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist. Many of these letters were not mailable due to the applicant not having a mailing address on file. While accompanying emails were also sent out, we want to make sure that all applicants have the opportunity to stay on our waitlist.
If you are working with someone that may be on the waitlist, please reach out to them and check if they’ve recently received an email about saving their spot on the waitlist.
Please share this information with your network if you think it would be beneficial and follow the instructions above to help them save their spot. Please note the deadline has been extended to March 29, 2024.
The BHA waitlists remain closed to new applicants. This notice is only for those currently on our Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist.
Please email contactus@bremertonhousing.org if you have questions.

Responding to community need. Every three years, Kitsap Community Resources (KCR) conducts a comprehensive assessment to evaluate the needs and assets in our community. Historically, it's been designed to highlight the gaps in services, programs and policies in Kitsap county, specifically as they pertain to the community members that might need KCR's services the most. It has also helped inform and guide KCR's strategic plan...
Data gathering with equity in mind. ...In all, 4,205 members of our community shared their perspective; the biggest response by far to any previous survey conducted by KCR. Equally important is that the respondents do largely represent our whole community, when considering their residency, income, race, age, geography, etc. This success is directly attributable to the strength of the community partnership that supported the effort.
Data for all. Moreover, these partners have committed that the data be accessible to all. Below is a public dashboard that's been created to make it easier for all service partners and community members to analyze data and see important results. Our hope is that the results will serve as an educational piece for agencies throughout Kitsap County to better understand the challenging issues our community faces and ultimately aid in creating effective solutions...
