Well-Being Programs

Whole Health includes a well-being component designed to equip Veterans with tools for skill building and self-care.

Well-being goes beyond any diagnosis. All Veterans can access well-being services to support their health and wellness. These services include well-being classes, complementary and integrative health and other well-being approaches, and health coaching.

Most VA medical centers offer a 2-hour Introduction to Whole Health and multi-session Taking Charge of My Life and Health led by trained Whole Health peer facilitators, partners, or coaches. These interactive sessions can help you focus on what you want out of your health and life by using tools such as the Circle of Health. You can set goals that will increase your sense of well-being: use the Personal Health Inventory to guide you.

Each of us has the power to impact our well-being. Whole Health offers the skills and support you need to make the changes you want.

Read about how Ta-Tanisha and other Veterans have improved their health and well-being here.

I was doing a lot of yoga and meditation and the mind/body connection was integral in me tealing with the aches and pains, which then helped me lose weight and feel healthier overall. Ta-Tanisha Randell, Air Force Veteran.

Complementary and integrative health (CIH) can support your well-being goals.

CIH well-being approaches such as guided imagery, meditation, tai chi, and yoga have been found to be very powerful in helping Veterans improve and enhance their sense of well-being. Check with your local facility to see what might be available in person or virtually.

On-demand virtual resources are also available for Veterans such as the #Live Whole Health videos.

Whole Health Coaching

Whole Health Coaches partner with Veterans and employees seeking to enhance their well-being through self-directed, lasting changes, aligned with their values.

Whole Health Coaches conduct individual or group coaching sessions that may occur in person, on the phone, or via telehealth. While Whole Health Coaches may not be available at every VA site, the community of Whole Health Coaches is growing. Ask your health care team if Whole Health coaching is available for you.
