Edge: How to Enable Experimental Features

Microsoft Edge, based on Chromium, offers experimental features just like Chrome and Firefox. These experimental features provide a glips for what can come on the future and can be useful for some of the power users. These features are usually available all builds and are available for those who would like to test them out. In this post, we will share how you can enable experimental features on Edge.

Edge: How to Enable Experimental Features

  • Open Edge on Mac or Chrome
  • In the address bar, type edge://flags and hit enter
  • It will open a list of features that can be turned on with the option to search.
  • Scroll through hundreds of features or search if you know anything.
  • Change from disabled to enable, and you are done.

Enable Experimental Features in Edge

Edge wants–Warning: Experimental features ahead. By enabling these features, you could lose browser data or compromise your security data or privacy. Enabled features apply to all users of the browser.  That said, there is not much of a difference visually for Expiermtal flags for both Edge Insider Canary and Dev Channels.

Some of the features are not available depending on the platform. So if there is a Windows Specific feature, it will not be available on the macOS and vice versa.

How to Reset Edge Experimental Features

It may so happen that your copy of Edge starts acting weird because you have enabled an experimental feature. The only way is to either disable the flag or reset Edge experimental flags. Here is how to do it:

  • Open Edge
  • Type edge://flags and hit enter.
  • On top, next to the search bar, click on Restore all to Default.

It will make sure all Flag Settings are set back to default. It is the best to fix if you have enabled multiple flags by default.
