Oakville Excellence from a Bucket-List Source

This one goes out to our longtime Napa lovers.

You know the winery behind today’s Echoes in the Canyon—and you’re probably already guessing we can’t tell you who it is.

We’re talking about an estate that lives and breathes excellence. Jeb Dunnuck has said their wines approach perfection, and Wine Spectator proclaimed that they’re at “the pinnacle of California,” with multiple placements near the head of their Top 100 lists. They’re up there with Napa’s very best, harnessing the type of cerebral complexity captured in today’s 2020.

The vines at this site, which lies near icons like Dalla Valle and Screaming Eagle, put forth grapes with gorgeous concentration and velvety tannins. They’re the source of some of our absolute favorite wines in Napa—bottles that usually fetch $200+.

Their 2020 Red Wine Oakville—a dazzling Cabernet Franc–dominated blend—won’t set you back near that, though, thanks to an ironclad NDA and enthusiastic support from our members. The last vintage of Echoes was one of the most popular wines we offered, and so many people clicked the “Notify Me” button that our web team thought the code wasn’t behaving.

When our COO, Andrew Walleck,  first moved to Napa, this winery’s mailing list was the first he joined. He believed their wines were worth every bit of their $185 price, so he demanded we offer their obsession-inducing, velvety power to our members.

Now, that dream has become a reality: After a fusillade of phone calls, a battery of tastings, and one futile attempt to contain his excitement, Andrew punched Wine Access members’ ticket to an elite Oakville vineyard—and the wine it yielded is nothing short of spectacular.
