AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) will launch the second phase of the education provider audit program in January 2021.  TREC rules give staff authority to audit education providers and permits staff to conduct on-site audits without prior notice.  Staff may also enroll in and attend a course without identifying themselves as TREC employees.

In January, TREC staff will begin performing audits of the administrative functions of qualifying education (QE) providers and QE courses offered through distance education.  QE classroom and combination (classroom & distance education) delivery course audits will follow as pandemic related constraints diminish.  Continuing education (CE) provider and course audits will begin later next year.

TREC works to protect the public through the agency’s licensing, education, and complaint investigation services, as well as regulation and enforcement of state laws and requirements that govern each of these areas of service. Contact information for the Commission, committees, and senior staff is available on the TREC website.
