THE CONFERENCE

The conference is usually attended by over 500 entrepreneurs and city luminaries and offers opportunities to get funded, mentored and build connects with thought leaders, investors, business partners and the movers and shakers of the city of Pune and beyond.

The 9th edition of TiECON 2022 is an annual conference, and has three key objectives:

  • Showcase pathways to accelerated growth and value creation for entrepreneurs in 2023 and beyond.
  • Introduce innovative ways of partnering, fund raising and people hiring that can impact both top and bottom lines

Scaling Your Company

In the early stages, entrepreneurs establish the identity, launch the first set of products and services, create customers, build the team and get funding. Validity of the idea and viability of the business is proven during this stage. This is often the first orbit of growth of an enterprise. This masterclass is for companies trying to take off into the second growth orbit. The second orbit is often about sustained growth.

It has been observed that what got entrepreneurs through the first orbit is not likely to work for the second orbit. Dr. Anand Deshpande & Prof. Korwar will discuss the new mindset and approach needed to get to the second orbit. Finance & Fund Raise

Finance and accounting is often not an area of expertise for entrepreneurs. However, they are expected to know right from simple revenue and expenses accounting to deeper nuances of a ‘term sheet’ (a document that contains the offer for investment by investors).

This class covers two broad areas:
1. Basics of finance and accounting – income, cash flow, balance sheet, and accounting principles that all founders need to understand
2. Fund Raise – external funding namely, debt and equity; angel to institutional rounds and internal funding that is building financial resources through selling products and services

The class will untangle all the terms used by investors and approaches by different types of investors such as angels, early-stage funds, and institutional investors. Participants will be divided into groups and their specific financing requirements will be taken up as case studies. Entrepreneurs will know if their company is investible and can determine the nature and amount of funding.

Organizing Sales to Grow

Simply put, 'Sales' is about converting a lead to business, meaning someone pays for your product or service. The entrepreneurial journey is unusual in the early stages. At times, early breakthroughs determine how a business develops. On the other hand, very early customers may not provide the direction that founders need to take to build a sustainable growth-centric sales strategy.

The session will cover products, services, partner models, and the role of founders. Go-to-market strategy will be part of the masterclass.

1. Session I (90min) will be in interactive teaching mode and a couple of simulated case studies

2. Session II will involve working on each participant’s case facilitated by the faculty, and experts who have built successful sales organizations. Participants will be divided into groups.
