Hear from Your Peers: Fundraising During COVID-19
Scholarship America is hosting this webinar outside of our annual conference, however, it will be VERY beneficial for ND chapters to attend! A virtual conversation about Dollars for Scholars fundraising in these challenging times. You’ll have a chance to chat with your fellow Dollars for Scholars volunteers, including those who have planned or held virtual events, hybrid events, or “non-events,” in support of community scholarships. The gathering is less of a centralized “webinar” and more of an opportunity to learn and share. Bring your own ideas, questions and success stories.

We will discuss what to expect with this year’s virtual conference and go over 2020 Community Education Opportunities. We will also visit ChapterNet’s new site and go through resources for scholarship setup, awarding and scoring.

Virtual Fundraising Ideas and Opportunities
Presented by Kristi Shepherd, Event Architects and Event Mentors
Learn how to successfully engage donor champions and fundraise virtually. The tips may surprise you!

SESSION 3: Wednesday, October 14 @ 1 p.m. CT

Dollars for Scholars Social Media Panel
Moderated by Despina Costopoulos, Scholarship America

Learn how Dollars for Scholars chapters throughout the country utilize social media to engage and support their community and students.

SESSION 4: Monday, October 19 @ 7 p.m. CT

Roundtable Discussions with fellow ND chapters
Moderated by Staci Holzheimer, ND Dollars for Scholars
We will discuss how your chapter is doing, items you are doing differently within your chapter since COVID started, how your board splits up board tasks, how do you make board service fun and anything else you want to talk about. Think of this session as a virtual version of networking with other board members at an actual in-person conference.

SESSION 5: Thursday, October 29 @ 11 a.m. CT

Utilizing Thrivent to benefit Dollars for Scholars in your community
Presented by Kristin Iverson, Thrivent and Ali Buth, Thrivent
Have you heard of Action Teams and Choice Dollars for Thrivent’s members? Learn how you can utilize Thrivent’s member benefits in a fundraiser, educational event, or service project, as well as how Thrivent Choice Dollars can make a financial impact on local nonprofits you care about, including Dollars for Scholars.

Chapters need to attend four of the six sessions to utilize the annual conference as one of their completed community educational opportunities.

All sessions will be recorded. If you cannot attend a session in person, you will be able to watch it later. A link to all sessions will be posted in the Volunteer section on the North Dakota Dollars for Scholars website (northdakota.dollarsforscholars.org).
