The Town of Brookhaven was awarded the National Coastal Resilience (NCR) Grants from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to develop design plans for the restoration of coastal saltmarsh habitat in the community of southern Mastic Beach in Suffolk County, New York. In partnership with the Town of Brookhaven and NFWF, the Project Team (Ramboll and Chinook) are hoping to collect meaningful input from local stakeholders to inform the project design.
The Southern Mastic Beach Ecological Restoration project seeks not only to protect and enhance the saltmarsh habitat to help reduce flooding to Mastic Beach residents, but also to inform residents about the ongoing threats of sea level rise and how it will impact their daily lives.
