Acton – Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton), Representative Danillo Sena (D-Acton), and Representative Tami Gouveia (D-Acton) are proud to announce that the Baker-Polito administration has awarded the town of Acton a MassWorks infrastructure grant of $2.75 million.

MassWorks is a competitive infrastructure program that provides large and flexible grants to communities to help them fund projects that contribute to initiatives such as housing, private development, and job production, all with the goal of creating a stronger and more sustainable Commonwealth.

The $2.75 million in funds awarded to Acton will be used for infrastructure to provide critical sewer and water improvements that will help support multi-family housing at Powder Mill Place, and an improved business corridor in South Acton.

The project, which is supported by the Acton Select Board and the Town along with a broad range of stakeholders, will support the construction of Powder Mill Place, a 230-unit affordable housing development representing $60 million in private investment. The proposed improvements include intersection, sidewalk, streetscape improvements, and upgrades to the Middle Fort Pond Brook Wastewater Treatment Facility.

“We appreciate the support from the state for this important project. The apartments at Powder Mill will provide critical affordable housing opportunities for Acton and the MassWorks Grant will help construct complete streets improvements and sewer infrastructure upgrades to support the project and our economic development efforts,” said Acton Town Manager John S. Mangiaratti.

I am grateful to the Baker-Polito administration for the $2.75 million grant to the town of Acton, investing in critical water infrastructure to enable multifamily housing, and improving a corridor of Acton that has been long ignored; “said State Senator Jamie Eldridge. I want to commend Acton Town Manager John Mangiaratti, the Acton Select Board, and the entire Town Hall staff for putting together an impressive proposal that will move Acton forward!”

“I am happy that the Baker-Polito administration has awarded Acton this grant relating to affordable housing at Powder Mill Place. We need to support affordable housing so that our town is truly accessible to people of all income levels. The infrastructure this grant will support is crucial to this much-needed development, and like Senator Eldridge I want to thank the town of Acton for advocating for it,” said Representative Danillo Sena.

“I am proud of the Town of Acton for securing funding for sewer and water improvements that will enable the construction of much needed multi-family and affordable housing in our community. I am excited to see the Powder Mill project advance and am looking forward to supporting future projects like it throughout our District,” said Representative Tami Gouveia.
