Portage mental health, substance use community event to take place in Ravenna

In celebration of National Recovery Month, Portage NAMI, Open United Recovery Place and OhioCAN Portage have come together to host a Community Reunion Event in support of those impacted by mental illness and substance use disorder. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at Ravenna City Park

It will begin with a NAMI Walk for Mental Health Recovery at 11am from the Center of Hope to Ravenna City Park. The walk will be followed by the main event in the park at noon. Activities will include entertainment, speakers, raffles, games and more. Boxed lunches will be provided. The event will conclude with OhioCAN’s annual shoe ceremony honoring loved ones lost to addiction.

The event is free and open to the public. Donations are welcomed. All proceeds from this event will remain in Portage County for recovery efforts.

National Alliance on Mental Illness is a national organization dedicated to helping improve the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness through advocacy, education, support, and awareness.

Open United Recovery Place is a peer led community organization dedicated to helping those impacted by addition through mutual support, resources, community, education, and positive socialization.

OhioCAN is an organization that embraces, educates, and empowers families and communities living with substance use and addiction
