The city is pulling out all the stops to make sure New Yorkers are informed that the Census is coming (March 12th is the true beginning of the count), and why it matters. To that end, the city has enlisted the help of large non-profits working in traditionally underserved communities, and organizations both large and small that are immersed in their neighborhoods day after day. Sheena Wright is the President and CEO of United Way, one of the largest of the 160-plus groups the city has asked to organize the effort to get every New Yorker counted. She talks about the infrastructure they’ve built to keep people informed, make sure they know how to fill out the forms and understand why it’s urgent that they take part. Judge Milton Tingling is helping to set up outreach for the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce.  He’s been advocating for a full census count for years, and he’ll speak specifically to efforts by the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce to gather everything from churches to beauty salons to support the Census.
