Federal Labor Relations Authority Closer to Full Capacity

Nominees to the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, bringing them closer to confirmation and the FLRA closer to operating at full capacity.

The FLRA plays an important role as a fair, neutral arbiter of labor-management disputes in the federal sector and a fully functioning FLRA is important to frontline civil servants.

The next step is for the nominees, Colleen Kiko and Anne Wagner, to be voted out of the committee and then taken to the full Senate. NTEU urges lawmakers to act quickly.

NTEU Wins Overtime Pay for 100 PTO Employees

Approximately 100 NTEU-represented employees at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) will soon have the proper overtime protections and will receive back pay plus liquidated damages for unpaid overtime going back to 2018.

Under a settlement secured by NTEU, PTO agreed to reclassify employees in nine positions as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which entitles them to overtime pay for work time exceeding 40 hours per work week. Some of these employees have already been reclassified as non-exempt and have received back pay amounting to nearly $46,000 in total. PTO will issue additional payments to impacted employees starting in July and running through the fall. Covered employees will soon receive more information from NTEU and the agency.

NTEU has a strong track record of fighting for—and winning—the proper overtime coverage and back pay for employees we represent.

NTEU.org is Getting Two Major Upgrades on Wednesday

NTEU’s website (NTEU.org) is getting two major upgrades! Members will soon be able to log in easier and faster with an upgraded security feature that does not include having to choose items within a photo. And a new search engine will be rolled out that performs better the more it is used.

The upgrade is scheduled for after hours on Wednesday and there should be no downtime, but most members will need to log in again with their username and password.

Once you log in again, we recommend that you check the ‘Remember Me’ box if you are accessing the website from a non-public device to reduce the number of times you need to log in during future website visits.

Need help logging in? You can reset your account here. For further assistance, email WebServicesGroup@nteu.org with your first and last name, chapter number (if you know), and only the last four digits of your Social Security number.

Be sure to log in every time you visit NTEU.org for member-exclusive resources and information.
