Dr. Jean Buzby, USDA’s Food Loss and Waste Liaison, will kick off this edition of the NIFA Food and Nutrition Security Webinar Series sharing her vision for integrating approaches to food loss and waste across USDA. Next, Dr. Suzanne Stluka, NIFA’s Deputy Director for the Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition, will provide an overview of Food Loss and Waste programs across NIFA’s four Institutes: the Institute of Bioenergy, Climate and Environment; the Institute of Food Production and Sustainability; the Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition; and the Institute of Youth, Family and Community. Then, Drs. Vicki Finkenstadt, Charlotte Tuttle, Lydia Kaume, Helen Chipman, and Ashley Mueller, National Program Leaders from each of these four Institutes will provide overviews of their relevant programs. Dr. Stluka will moderate a discussion across the 5 panelists with Rebekah Hanson and Taylor Reed helping moderate questions from the audience.
