NGA's Tearline

NGA sponsors Tearline.mil, a congressionally supported publication platform that features unclassified geospatial intelligence from academic and non-profit contributors using open research and commercial imagery. The project supplies open-source intelligence to grow authoritative reports for NGA, federal partner agencies, and general public usage to support and assist in the agency's mission.

Status of Chinese Investments in Argentinian Lithium Mines

Chinese companies own or otherwise have significantly invested in six of 16 active lithium mining projects in Argentina, including four of the six most developed projects. Investment in these mines helps to further cement the People's Republic of China's dominance and control over the lithium industry, a mineral critical for the green-energy transition, particularly in the construction of lithium-ion batteries.

Seventy-five percent of the world's lithium is contained in the desert salt flats (salars) at the crossroads of Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile, which is known as the lithium triangle. Read more...

NGA Director Whitworth Delivers Keynote at 2024 GEOINT Symposium

NGA's Director Whitworth delivered the keynote speech for the 2024 GEOINT Symposium held in Kissimmee, Florida. The theme of the conference — Essential in All Dimensions and Domains — allowed the director, on the first day of the Symposium, to discuss meeting the needs of warfighters and decision makers at speed and scale, the agency’s assessment of and investment in commercial analytic services, the way forward for GEOINT artificial intelligence and NGA’s role in space.
