Praxis by Landmark Recovery, a residential drug and alcohol addiction rehab center, has officially opened in Euclid and will begin treating its first patients in early November.

Located at 19350 Euclid Ave., the new facility will offer inpatient and outpatient addiction recovery services, drug and alcohol detox programs, and both individual and group-based therapy. It has residential halls for both men and women, with about 30 beds each.

Landmark Recovery of Cleveland, as it’s otherwise known, will be the first Landmark Recovery location to open in Ohio. The company has many other locations across the country, including Kentucky, Indiana and Nevada.

Staff from Landmark Recovery welcomed Euclid city leaders and several members of the Euclid police to celebrate the grand opening and take a tour of the recently renovated building on Oct. 19, which was the former Rosemary Home operated by the Catholic Diocese.

Euclid Mayor Kirsten Holzheimer Gail explained that the Rosemary Home was formerly a residential home that served children with developmental and motor disabilities, so the building’s newest iteration stays true to its roots as a care facility.

“Every family has been touched by, or knows someone that has been touched by, addiction,” Gail said. “Whether it’s alcohol, whether it’s opioids or anything in between. It’s become such a common ailment, and treatment is really hard to find. So, this is a good reuse of the building and a great investment in the community, and it will bring an important service for our residents.”

Michelle Dubey, chief clinical officer at Landmark Recovery, said that the company’s goal is to provide passionate, individualized services to its patients while breaking down the barriers that often prevent people from seeking treatment.

“Availability and affordability are the two most prevalent barriers for individuals struggling with substance abuse,” she said.

Dubey told the site visitors that the new Praxis by Landmark Recovery is one of their facilities that accepts Medicaid insurance, which is not common among many substance abuse rehab centers.

“Here in Ohio, there is an overwhelming need for more addiction programs serving the Medicaid population,” Dubey said. “For every one bed accepting Medicaid insurances, there are ten individuals waiting for treatment. These individuals deserve the highest quality of medical care available — regardless of socioeconomic status or insurance provider.”

She explained that the new center utilizes twice the amount of therapy hours compared to the national average, and employs a team of master’s degree level clinicians.

“We’re focused on treating not just the primary problem of substance abuse,” Dubey said, “but also the underlying problems that interact dramatically with substance abuse such as trauma-related disorders.”
