Personal Statement
My name is Paula Sigley and I am a student at York Suburban High school. My competitive athletic career began in 2013 as a competitive gymnast and continued for three years. In 2016 I did a field hockey camp that Ballyhoo, in York Pennsylvania, hosted and was immediately hooked on the sport. At that time I left gymnastics and continued my interest in field hockey and basketball. I started playing for my club field hockey team in 6th grade and plan to continue through high school. I was a starting defender for my middle school team in 7th and 8th grade while playing basketball and making it to the championship game my 8th grade year. I started varsity as a defender freshman year in high school and earned my varsity letter. I started varsity as a midfielder during my sophomore year and made the division II all county first team, and was voted MVP by my teammates. Junior year I started Varsity as a midfielder and was voted MVP by my teammates and named to the division II all county first team.
I know I want to play field hockey at the college level because I love being part of a team made of passionate and committed players that enjoy the game. I understand the commitment required to continue to improve my skills. I am dedicated to my training because I strive to become better with each practice and game.
