About NCOAA

The National Carbon Monoxide Awareness Association (NCOAA) is a non-partisan, grassroots, civic-minded organization that is focused on eradicating carbon monoxide poisoning and helping carbon monoxide poisoning survivors recover to lead happy, healthy, and productive lives.

Our mission is to drive a comprehensive conversation on the public health crisis of chronic and acute carbon monoxide poisoning.

What is Carbon Monoxide?

Carbon monoxide, more commonly referred to as CO, is a highly toxic gas, produced by devices that burn fuels – often found in our everyday lives.

Prevention

Carbon monoxide is produced by the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels. It can't be seen, smelled, or heard, but poisoning can be avoided. Learn what to do if you suspect carbon monoxide poisoning, who is at a higher risk for poisoning, and what types of treatments you can expect.
