Welcome to the expanding METRO network

METRO is the network of fast, frequent, all-day buses and trains that can speed your commute. And it’s growing!

Construction is underway for the METRO Gold Line, a bus rapid transit (BRT) line connecting downtown St. Paul with its eastern suburbs, heading toward a 2025 start, and the METRO Purple Line, a BRT line with service between downtown St. Paul and Maplewood, is under study.

Two other BRT projects – the METRO B Line and METRO E Line – are under construction. Several other BRT projects are in the planning stage.

A METRO Green Line extension to Eden Prairie (also called the Southwest Corridor Project) is under construction. A METRO Blue Line extension, continuing light rail service from downtown Minneapolis to Brooklyn Park, also is under development.
