West Virginia To Receive More Than $83 Million in State Revolving Funds For Water and Wastewater Infrastructure

Funding from bipartisan infrastructure law

Washington, DC — U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today announced West Virginia will receive $83,211,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in state revolving funds (SRFs) for water and wastewater infrastructure.

“Ensuring that every West Virginian has access to safe, clean drinking water has always been one of my top priorities. Now, after months of dedicated effort from both sides of the aisle, the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will deliver historic investments for water infrastructure across the country. West Virginia will receive $83,211,000 for fiscal year 2022 alone, the largest water infrastructure investment ever for the state. This funding will be used to upgrade and fix clean drinking water systems, replace lead pipes, address PFAS contamination and much more. I am proud to have fought for this funding to address our infrastructure needs, and I look forward to the monumental impact these investments will have on the Mountain State,” Senator Manchin said.

“My committee’s Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act is the foundation of the water and wastewater portion of the bipartisan infrastructure law. When crafting those pieces of legislation and managing them on the Senate floor, I fought to make sure West Virginia would get its fair share of SRF monies, which are a major source of investment in our communities’ water treatment facilities. This fiscal year 2022 funding will support clean drinking water technologies, upgrades to machinery, wastewater infrastructure in rural areas, and more. This type of investment is how the bipartisan infrastructure law will make a difference in our state,” Senator Capito said.
