A rubber dam is being deployed on the Russian River. On Thursday, the US Drought Monitor showed Sonoma County to be under Severe Drought conditions. The conditions prompted Sonoma Water to inflate the rubber dam earlier than usual to create a pool the utility can use. Sonoma Water conserves and purifies the water with its natural filtration system prior to delivering drinking water to customers in Sonoma and Marin counties. The rubber dam is installed near Wohler Bridge and will take several days to fully inflate.
