INSURANCE

Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon directed insurers Tuesday to pay policyholders’ expenses for evacuating from Hurricane Ida as damaged infrastructure and dangerous living conditions in Southeast Louisiana continue to keep people from returning home. Read more here.

OPERATION BLUE ROOF

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin Operation Blue Roof for homeowners in areas impacted by Hurricane Ida to cover their damaged roofs until permanent repairs are made. To sign up or get more information, visit blueroof.us or call 1-888-766-3258. 

REBUILDING

Licensed Louisiana Contractors List 

At this time, the Department of Inspection and Code Enforcement will not charge any permit or trades filing fees related to Hurricane Ida until December 31, 2021. Jefferson Parish residents are reminded to obtain the proper permit before repairing, rebuilding or demolishing a structure.  Read more here.

Energy Smart Launches Hurricane Ida Recovery Fund for Business Customers – Eligible customers may use the fund to cover up to 100% of the cost for new energy efficiency projects. Customers must require financial assistance, outside of assistance already requested or received, to complete an energy-saving project needed because Hurricane Ida’s impact. Projects can include, but are not limited to, equipment upgrades or replacements, renovations, rebuilds and/or upgrades that lead to greater energy efficiency for a customer’s building. Deadline to apply is October 4, 2021. Details here.
