Hochul Administration Transparency Plans

Hochul Administration Transparency Plans

Overview

Overview

At the start of her new administration, Governor Hochul pledged a new era of greater transparency and accountability. The administration directed heads of New York State agencies, authorities and boards to assess and evaluate their existing policies and practices and create a plan detailing their new efforts to increase transparency and accessibility in our work and in our operations. In that same spirit of collaboration and transparency, we are posting these memos here.

NYS agencies, authorities and boards provided innovative approaches, such as:

  • Overhauling agency websites to create a more interactive experience, allowing for ease of use and potential access to agency services;
  • Expanding language access to increase accessibility to all New Yorkers;
  • Making better use of the state’s Project Sunlight initiative and OpenData, by improving areas such as website navigation, ensuring accessibility;
  • Conducting listening tours of regional offices so agency senior staff can hear directly from their colleagues on areas where improvement can be undertaken.

Over the coming days and weeks, we will be working with our colleagues in New York State government on timelines for implementation of these recommendations. We are also encouraging all of our state entities to use these memos to find ways to continue strong, interagency collaboration that serves New Yorkers and continues to restore trust in government.
