Overview of Role:
The Bilingual Education and Outreach (E&O) Senior Representative fosters Boulder’s Latinx community connections to the outdoors. As a presence on the land, this position will welcome visitors; develop and provide bilingual information and educational program opportunities; monitor for safety; assist with emergencies; and encourage responsible recreation. They will work at a variety of OSMP and partner organization venues including neighborhoods, schoolyards and classrooms, and community events, as well as on trails and at trailheads. This position specializes in developing, coordinating, and delivering programs covering equity on OSMP’s Open Space, our diverse ecosystems, climate action, and how we manage the land. The Bilingual E&O Senior Representative will also recruit and encourage youth and their families to attend programs and events. They will seek to understand the unique barriers to outdoor access the Spanish-speaking community faces and will work to reduce these barriers. Their efforts will help advance to OSMP Master Plan outcomes and strategies. 

The starting pay for this position is $19.05 - $23.50/hour, commensurate with experience. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:                                                                                  

 Community Engagement : 

Coordinates and leads efforts to engage Boulder’s Latinx community through a variety of verbal and written formats. Develops and maintains relationships with community leaders and community-based organizations (CBO' serving the Latinx community. Tracks and shares successes and challenges with the E&O and JEDI team.

· Community Education and Outreach:                                                                                        

Develops, coordinates, and conducts bilingual education programs and outreach across the OSMP system. Develops, uses and tracks bilingual educational props and media including maps, brochures, web pages, videos, curricula and other educational aides. Transports and sets up educational displays. Provides excellent customer service. Coordinates with work groups across the department and city organization and with community-based organizations.

· Safety & Responsibility:                                                                                                               

Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Uses all proper safety equipment. Reports all accidents and damage to city property. Understands department's emergency, wildlife, lightning, air quality and fire procedures. Provides for personal and public safety in all tasks.

· Reporting & Communications:                                                                                                    

Maintains records and writes reports of work performed, program and partnership achievements, and learnings for monthly and quarterly reports. Summarizes, evaluates, and analyzes programs and work duties. Understands department's communications procedures and protocols including emergencies. Documents relevant incidents.

· Uniforms &  Engagement:                                                                                                           

Complies with all city and department policies; participates in professional trainings and development; and adheres to attendance and workplace uniform and attire policies. Uses E&O communication protocol.

Minimum Job Requirements:

· Bilingual in English/Spanish.

· Experience scheduling, planning and leading guided hikes about nature, both indoors and outdoors.

· Knowledge of Front Range flora, fauna, and ecosystems.

· Experience managing other staff.

· Must be 18 years or older.

· Able to work evenings and weekends.

· Must have or be willing to obtain valid current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.

· Acceptable background information, including criminal history.

· Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.

Preferred Job Requirements:

Experience working with a land management agency.

Experience working with emergency management.

Work Conditions and Requirements

Predominantly weekdays and Saturdays, some evenings, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical ability to perform tasks in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions including lifting, moving on rough terrain. Work takes place in both an office setting and a field setting with continuous interruptions and background noises. Staff use cell phones for communications.
