Peggi Rush Lifetime Public Service Fund

It is with a heavy heart that I come to you today. Our very own Peggi “Pit Mama” Rush was transported to the Hospice House on Saturday. The doctor has told us that she is transitioning from this life to the next, within the next few hours to a few days.

Peggi Rush is one of the most humble and service oriented humans I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She gave of herself to her mother’s in home care for a more than a decade, to her family, her friends, her racers and racetracks, and to all of us, advocating for our rural way of life as #Timberunity. Everything she did, she did for others. And now, she finally needs us to do for her.

Peggi lives a very modest life, while befriending many fancy dignitaries. She rents a modest home and lives on a fixed income. She has no spouse, nor children. She will need resources for cremation and help with attorney fees. Currently she is her mothers guardian, but that will now have to be taken on by her niece, Jessie. Right now, we are trying to find the lowest cost crematorium. When she is no longer with us, things will move too fast and she was unprepared. Peggi does want her resting place to be The McKenzie River, we do know that.

Funds will go directly to the funeral home and the attorney for her mom’s guardianship. Any funds raised above and beyond, will then be designated to a Legacy Fund. We want to honor rural students who are interested in going into Public Service and/or Law. It will be called The Peggi Rush Legacy Scholarship. We want everyone to remember how special Peggi is.

As the days progress, we are looking at having a riverside celebration in the summer and a memorial at Cottage Grove Speedway. We will keep this updated with details when we know more.

Peggi is a true gift to our lives and we are the lucky ones who had a chance to know her. She will be forever in our hearts.
