On March 29, 2022, at approximately 4:25 p.m., a Sheriff’s deputy found an inmate unresponsive in his quarantine housing cell in the Adult Detention Center (ADC). Medical staff and other deputies responded to the scene and rendered aid. Rescue was summoned as life-saving efforts continued in the cell. City of Fairfax Fire and Rescue pronounced the inmate deceased at 4:49 p.m.

Fairfax County Sheriff's Office policy dictates that an in-custody death must be investigated by the Fairfax County Police Department. The investigation is underway. Look for updates on the Police Department news blog when additional information becomes available.
