Position Title: Rec-PAC Leader (Camp Counselor)
Location: Multiple locations in Fairfax County, Virginia. 
Hours: Monday through Friday; 8:15am – 4:15pm
Salary: $16.87 to $19.75 per hour, depending on experience, education, and certifications. 

Duties Include: 

  • Lead groups of up to 18 kids.
  • Plan engaging programs for kids.
  • Lead campers in outdoor activities, sports, arts and crafts, and special events.
  • Ensure the safety of all campers.
  • Provides exceptional customer service.
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining all camp equipment, supplies and camp areas. Ensures health and safety precautions are met.
  • Responsible for the overall safety of the children in camp, communicating with parents throughout the week and for preparing and distributing activity calendars (or syllabus) on the first day of camp and an activity summary at the end of camp.
  • Responsible for documenting all accidents, injuries and incidents and reporting child abuse/neglect to a supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have or be willing to obtain a First aid and CPR certification.
  • Available to work all 6 weeks of camp.
  • Must be 18 years old or older.            
  • Agree to a Criminal Background Check (fingerprint).
  • Provide negative TB test results (Valid for two years).
  • Have NEVER been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor related to abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other barrier crimes as listed on the Sworn Disclosure Statement of the Criminal Record Check.

Note: This position may not exceed 900 hours per calendar year. Individuals in these positions are not eligible for benefits and are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay.

Position Title: Rec-PAC Site Director
Location: Multiple locations in Fairfax County, Virginia. 
Hours: Monday through Friday; 8:15am – 4:15pm
Salary: $20.04 to $23.75 per hour, depending on experience, education, and certifications. 

Duties Include: 

  • Assists full-time staff in preparing staff schedules, including extended care coverage. Camp Directors shall prepare and maintain files for staff, campers, and CIT’s Turns in staff hours to Area Supervisor.
  • Will be trained and responsible for administering medications to campers as directed on the authorization form and ensure proper documentation.
  • Provides exceptional customer service.
  • Serves as the liaison between counselors and site staff, between the camp and parents, and between the site and Youth Services and Social Services Prepares weekly paperwork, supervises, evaluates, and trains site staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring all Virginia Department of Social Services standards and FCPA regulations are adhered to and in compliance for licensure Ensures health and safety precautions are met.
  • Assist counselors with maintaining equipment and camp areas. He/she is responsible for ensuring field trip plans are confirmed and should assist counselors in planning activities as needed.
  • Required to make sure staff is properly completing forms and documents for accidents, injuries or incidents and reporting child abuse/neglect to a supervisor.
  • Will make phone calls to parents when necessary and assist staff when disciplinary situations arise. Camp Directors will communicate with parents before and during camp in a written form (email, notes home, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Title: Rec-PAC Area Supervisor
Status: G Status (Maximum 40 hours per week/900 hours per calendar year)
Pay Rate: Starting at $22.14 per hour. 
    
Position Summary: 
The Area Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Rec-PAC area that they have been assigned to. 

Essential Functions

  • Picks up and delivers supplies and equipment 
  • Performs weekly inventory of supplies 
  • Turns in staff hours to HR representative 
  • Picks up weekly registrations
  • Provides exceptional customer service 
  • Ensures proper staffing is enforced utilizing rovers/subs and moving staff when a counselor is absent while maintaining 1-18 ratio 
  • Prepares and collects weekly paperwork, supervises, evaluates and trains site staff.
  • Manages and directs all activities, weekly planning, site schedules and special events 
  • Ensures health and safety precautions are met 
  • Acts as a liaison between school/ recreation center administration and Youth Services
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Hours: 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand written and oral instructions, in English. 
  • Ability to interact with the public professionally and display a positive image. 
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified or the ability to attain certification within the first month of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. 
  • Requires high school graduation or equivalent.

Position Title: Rec-PAC Meals Program Manager
Location: This position will be based out of the Herrity Building in Fairfax and will be required to travel to Rec-PAC sites across Fairfax County.  
Hours: This is a summer seasonal position required to work 20-30 hours per week from March through May and 40 hours per week from June through August. 
Salary: Starting at $25 per hour, depending on experience.  

Overview: The Rec-PAC Meals Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the meal program for 29 Summer Camp sites in Fairfax County. Primary responsibility will include overall management of the program and supervision of meal service staff and ensuring compliance with applicable policies and laws.

Duties: 

  • Provide overall management and supervise the Rec-PAC Summer Meals Program sites and staff.
  • Place meal orders according to the requested timeframe (from FNS) for all Rec-PAC Meal Site Managers.
  • Submit daily meal invoices.
  • Ensure that site monitoring reports are submitted to Food Access Program (FAP) on time.
  • Ensure that all staff who participate in the operation of Rec-PAC Summer Meals Service are trained on the USDA SFSP Regulations and Civil Rights prior to their first day of work.
  • Ensure that Rec-PAC Meal Site Managers are following USDA Guidelines for their Summer Meal Services.
  • Ensure site information is correct, current, and reflects the operation of each site including changes in meal service types, meal service times, and the average number of children served (for meal cap). 
  • Ensure that the safety of food is in compliance with State and local health and safety standards at all Rec-PAC Summer Meals Program sites.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience providing administrative support.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of administrative office procedures.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite software, to include Excel, SharePoint. Proficient in typing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with all levels of management, vendors and customers.

Location: This position will be assigned to one of 16 Rec-PAC sites in Fairfax County. Placement can be flexible and based on applicants’ location in the County. 
Hours: This is a summer seasonal position required to work 40 hours per week from June to mid-August. Must attend mandatory trainings. 
Salary: Starting at $20 per hour, depending on experience.  

Overview: The Rec-PAC Meals Program Site Director is responsible for providing campers at their as-signed Rec-PAC site with daily meals throughout the summer camp session. The Meals Program Site Director is responsible for ensuring meals are prepared, stored and served according to local and federal guidance and laws. 

Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Document the serving time and temperature on the food delivery form.
  • Assure that proper food temperatures are maintained.
  • Stay at the site for the entire meal service.
  • Serve the meal according to State and local health and safety standards.
  • Complete the Daily Meal Count Form at the point of service (when Breakfast, Lunch and PM Snack are served). 
  • Enter the data from the Daily Meal Count and Attendance form into the NCS System (SEMS) before the end of the day.
  • Clean and sanitize all eating areas before and after serving the meal.                                                                               
  • Make sure food safety guidelines are followed, including if the site uses a sharing table.
  • Maintain proper freezer/refrigerator temperatures. 
  • Fill in as a Camp Counselor or Director as needed.
