What is Mental Health First Aid?

Mental Health First Aid is a public education and evidence-based program that introduces the risk factors and warning signs of common mental health and substance use disorders, builds understanding of their impact, and reviews common support options. The interactive eight-hour training teaches participants how to offer initial help to an individual who may be experiencing a mental health concern or crisis and connect them to the appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-care resources.

This training is administered by The National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
