Social Services Announces REVISED FINAL Sign-Up for 2022 Christmas Program

East Hartford, CT-- East Hartford Social Services is continuing to accept applications from families with minor children for assistance with Christmas Food Baskets & holiday toys for their children between the ages of 1 month - 10 years. This year's Christmas Program has been revised from gift cards to toys generously donated by the East Hartford community. Applications can be downloaded HERE signed and returned to the department with all necessary information via email or scan at  socialservices@easthartfordct.gov.  Other filing options include calling the department at 860-291-7248 to request an application be mailed to you or setting up an in-person appointment. All applicants must submit a signed application along with all required documents. This information can be returned via fax 860-291-7304, USPS mail, placed in green drop box in Town Hall Parking lot or dropped off in the Social Services Office. Completed signed applications should be returned to the department with all necessary paperwork by November 28, 2022 by 4:00 p.m.

Please Note:  Holiday toys are only available to children up to age 10. If you previously submitted an application for the Combined Thanksgiving & Christmas Programs during October or November, you are all set and do not need to submit an additional application.

In addition to the signed application, COPIES of the following documents are requested (please note, originals cannot be returned):

  • Photo ID and proof of current address for applicant & proof of current address for all household members age 18 and older.  Current address verifications: valid lease, current bill, mail or rent receipt dated within the past 4 weeks.
  • Proof of current household monthly gross income.
  • Current budget sheet from DSS for cash assistance only.
  • Dates of birth for all household members.

  • Documentation the adult applying for the program is the parent/legal guardian/primary responsible adult for the children. Examples include birth certificate, school enrollment record or application from other East Hartford or State programs.

A Christmas meal will be available for singles or households with no minor children.  If you wish to sign-up for this meal, please contact Social Services directly @ 860-291-7248 to find out more and register.  The registration deadline for Christmas meal is December 15, 2022

Please Note: Completing an application does not guarantee that your request will be fulfilled, as these programs are based on the amount of donations/funding available.
