  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 5.02.0 (DRAFT) (ZIP)  – The DRAFT version data submission specifications include the addition of new payer data items (A1400) and COVID-19 item O0350.  Also, the Section GG goal items as well as items 20A and 20B have been removed.  These specifications align with IRF-PAI Version 4.2 scheduled for implementation on October 1, 2024. 
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 5.01.4 for Data Specifications Version 5.00.1 (FINAL) (PDF)  - An updated errata (V5.01.4) is now available for the IRF-PAI Data Specifications V5.00.1 (FINAL). Two issues were added.      One issue resulted in revisions to two subedits for edit -5109.  The other issue removes the mappings of the C0400 items to edit -5004.  These revisions are retroactive; they will be applied to assessments with discharge date on or after October 1, 2023.  The revisions will be implemented in iQIES on November 14, 2023.
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 5.01.3 for Data Specifications Version 5.00.1 (FINAL)  (PDF)   - An updated errata (V5.01.3) is now available for the IRF-PAI Data Specifications V5.00.1 (FINAL). Two issues were added that resulted in revisions to two edits.  These revised edits will be applied to assessments submitted on or after October 1, 2023.
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 5.01.2 for Data Specifications Version 5.00.1 (FINAL) (PDF)   - An updated errata (V5.01.2) is now available for the IRF-PAI Data Specifications V5.00.1 (FINAL). One issue was added:  the valid value of 5.01 was added to item SPEC_VRSN_CD.  This value can be used on assessments submitted on or after October 1, 2023.
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 5.01.1 for Data Specifications Version 5.00.1 (FINAL) (PDF)   - An updated errata (V5.01.1) is now available for the IRF-PAI Data Specifications V5.00.1 (FINAL). Two previous issues have been corrected.  Please note that the resolutions to these issues will occur on October 1, 2023.
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 5.01.0 for Data Specifications Version 5.00.1 (FINAL) (PDF)  - An updated errata (V5.01.0) is now available for the IRF-PAI Data Specifications V5.00.1 (FINAL). Three additional issues have been identified since V5.00.3.  Please note that the resolutions to these new issues (two new edits, six revised edits, and several changes to allowed item values) will occur on October 1, 2023.
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 5.00.3 for Data Specifications Version 5.00.1 (FINAL) (PDF)  - An updated errata (V5.00.3) is now available for the IRF-PAI Data Specifications V5.00.1 (FINAL). Four additional issues have been identified since V5.00.2.  Please note that issue 16 is an update to issues 11 and 12 on how the dash [-] will be handled for the N0415 items.  Also, the Section C XML tag issue described below has been added to the errata as issue 14. 
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 5.00.2 for Data Specifications Version 5.00.1 (FINAL) (PDF) - An errata (V5.00.2) is now available for the IRF-PAI Data Specifications V5.00.1 (FINAL). Twelve issues have been identified.  Please note that issues 3 through 10 are revisions related to the Section D Mood items D0150 and D0160, which match the revised instructions in the guidance manual. Also, please note that issues 11 and 12 change how the dash [-] will be handled for the N0415 items.  IMPORTANT:  The current Section C items will NOT have their XML tags altered to contain “_1” at the end of each item.  They will remain the same, while the new Section C items will contain “_2” at the end of each item.  This issue was not included in the errata. 
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 5.00.1 (FINAL) (ZIP)  – The FINAL version data submission specifications include the new standardized patient assessment data elements and Transfer of Health items to align with IRF-PAI Version 4.0 now scheduled for implementation on October 1, 2022.
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 5.00.0 (DRAFT) (ZIP) – The DRAFT version data submission specifications include the new standardized patient assessment data elements  and Transfer of Health items to align with IRF-PAI Version 4.0 scheduled for implementation on October 1, 2020.
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 4.00.0 (FINAL) (ZIP) – in effect on October 1, 2019. This FINAL version supports Version 3.0 of the IRF-PAI.  There have been no changes since the DRAFT version.
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 4.00.0 (DRAFT) (ZIP)  – in effect on October 1, 2019. This DRAFT version supports Version 3.0 of the IRF-PAI.  Please note the removal of the FIM items (29-39) and the flu-related items (O0250).
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 3.00.1 (FINAL) (ZIP) – in effect on October 1, 2018. This FINAL version supports Version 2.0 of the IRF-PAI.  In addition to incorporating the changes identified in IRF-PAI Errata Version 3.00.2, this version removes edit -5054 and deletes the mappings of items O0250A and O0250C to edit -5004, since those items will be optional on 10/01/2018. 
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 3.00.2 for Data Specifications Version 3.00.0 (DRAFT) – in effect for October 1, 2018.  Two issues were added to the previous ten.  As a result, the caret was removed as a valid value for three Section GG items, and the incomplete stay skip pattern edit (-5083) was revised.
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 3.00.1 for Data Specifications Version 3.00.0 (DRAFT) – in effect for October 1, 2018.  Ten issues were added, five of which are related to edits in Section GG.  There were also revisions to which items will receive the payment reduction warning edit -5004.
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 3.00.0 (DRAFT) – in effect on October 1, 2018. This DRAFT version supports Version 2.0 of the IRF-PAI.  Please note the revisions to allowed item values for Section GG items, the removal of two Section GG items and ten Section M items, and the new Section N.
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 2.01.1 (FINAL) (ZIP) – in effect on October 1, 2017. This version supports Version 1.5 of the IRF-PAI.  There have been no additional changes since the DRAFT version 2.01.0 posted below.
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 2.01.0 (DRAFT) – in effect on October 1, 2017. This version supports Version 1.5 of the IRF-PAI and is a revised draft dated 04/25/2017.  Note that item 27 (Swallowing) has been removed.  Also, please note the addition of edit -1130 for item 2; further information on this edit is available in the Overview document.
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 2.00.1 (FINAL) (ZIP) – in effect on October 1, 2016.  This FINAL version incorporates all of the changes identified in Errata Version 2.00.4 for the DRAFT version (V2.00.0) of the Data Specifications.  This version supports Version 1.4 of the IRF-PAI, which adds several quality indicator sections:  Section B (Hearing, Speech, and Vision), Section C (Cognitive Patterns), Section GG (Functional Abilities and Goals), Section H (Bladder and Bowel), Section J (Health Conditions), and Section K (Swallowing/Nutritional Status).  Also, please note the significant changes to diagnoses, pressure ulcer and therapy items.  Furthermore, there are no voluntary items in this version of the IRF-PAI.  
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 2.00.4 for Data Specifications Version 2.00.0 (DRAFT) – in effect for October 1, 2016.  Four issues were added.  As a result, three edits (-5011, -5060c, -5067c) have been revised and edit -5004 no longer applies to items C0400A, C0400B and C0400C.
  • IRF-PAI Errata Version 2.00.3 for Data Specifications Version 2.00.0 (DRAFT) – in effect for October 1, 2016.  Two additional issues have been added, and one previous issue has been revised.  The two new issues address the edits for goal item values in Section GG, while the revised issue corrects the value text for item O0100N.  NOTE:  Errata documents will now be versioned using the data specifications version number and then incrementing the number after the rightmost decimal for each update.  Since this is the third posting of the errata, the version of this errata is 2.00.3.
  • Updated IRF-PAI Errata for Data Specifications Version 2.00.0 (DRAFT) – in effect for October 1, 2016.  Three additional issues have been added to the errata.  Two of the issues update item value text descriptions to be consistent with other IRF-PAI items.  The other issue is a revision to edit -5043.
  • IRF-PAI Errata for Data Specifications Version 2.00.0 (DRAFT) – in effect for October 1, 2016.   The errata identifies three issues.  Two of the issues add the caret [^] as a valid value to items in Section GG; this is necessary in order to accommodate skip pattern edits.  The other issue corrects three XML tags in the data dictionary.
  • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 2.00.0 (DRAFT) – in effect on October 1, 2016.   • IRF-PAI Data Specifications Version 1.12.1 (FINAL) (ZIP) – in effect on October 1, 2015.  This version is essentially the same as the previously posted 1.12.0 DRAFT version but with the Errata changes applied.  Note that the Data Specification Reports no longer have DRAFT displayed in the header.  The specifications support Version 1.3 of the IRF-PAI.  The major changes with version 1.12.1 from the previous 1.11.1 version are the use of ICD-10 diagnosis codes rather than ICD-9 codes;  several new items have been added to the IRF-PAI, new edits are included for the new items, some edits have been removed for selected items, and some edit text has been revised.
