COLUMBUS, Ohio—Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said Wednesday he and others have reached a $26 billion deal with the nation’s three largest pharmaceutical distributors and drugmaker Johnson & Johnson to settle thousands of lawsuits related to the companies’ role in the opioid epidemic.

Under the massive deal, which could provide as much as $1 billion to the state of Ohio, the money would mostly go to states and communities to help reduce opioid addiction and help addicts get treatment.
