Welcome to
CREST-Center for Innovation, Research,
and Education in Environmental Nanotechnology

As the need for a talent pipeline of scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs increases  in the nano-scientific community; the CREST-Center for Innovation, Research, and Education in Environmental Nanotechnology (CIRE2N) is dedicated to the education of environmentally-conscious undergraduate and graduate students using the latest technology, discoveries, and educational material for a successful integration in the scientific workforce.  The center is based in the University of Puerto Rico Río Piedras Campus and includes students from UPR-Mayaguez and Cayey as well as partnerships with UAGM.  The efforts carried out in the lab by students and researchers are focused on the development of nanomaterials and devices to address environmental issues utilizing nanotechnology., starting off with local focal points.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY

“Cire2n provides the unique opportunity to collaborate in an interdisciplinary space where you can learn and apply the knowledge of other scientific branches, having new ways of doing and disseminating science.”

Elix Hernández Figueroa, Graduate Student

“During my participation in CIRE2N I have been able to share with other graduate and undergraduate students from different mayors in science, which has helped me to foster interdisciplinary knowledge during my studies in the graduate school of chemistry.”

Camila Morales Navas, Graduate Student

“This program helped me develop several skills in research, education and outreach in order to grow as a future scientist. In addition, CIRE2N allowed me to
present my research in different scientific meetings. .”

Andrés F. González López, Undergraduate Student
