The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback along with his parents, Robin and Jimmy Burrow, announced the launch of a nonprofit foundation on Tuesday.

The Joe Burrow Foundation's goals are to help meet the needs of families working to overcome food insecurity and childhood mental health issues by providing resources and support to underprivileged and underserved people in Ohio and Louisiana, according to a news release from the Bengals.

"Everyone has a responsibility to do good. I'm accepting my role in that effort and am excited to launch the Joe Burrow Foundation with my family," Burrow wrote in an Instagram post announcing the nonprofit.

During his acceptance speech for the Heisman Trophy in 2019, Burrow highlighted the poverty and hunger in his hometown of Athens, Ohio. The speech went viral, leading to the Athens County Food Pantry receiving over $400,000 in donations.

"We will build on our efforts to tackle food insecurity by also finding ways to offer up support in Greater Cincinnati, other parts of Ohio, Baton Rouge and Louisiana," Burrow continued. "My mom, a lifetime educator, experiences firsthand the effect of mental health issues on children and their families. We want to make a difference here as well."

Burrow will serve as the president of the foundation's executive board. His dad, Jimmy Burrow, will be vice president and his mom, Robin Burrow, will serve as secretary and treasurer.
