New! Three Transportation Documents Out for Public Comment - Comments Due by May 13, 2024

On April 22, 2024, the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization voted to release the following three transportation planning documents for a 21-day public comment period. Members of the public are invited to review these documents and provide comments.

Informational and public comment opportunities for these plans will be held on the following dates:

  • April 16, 2024: In-person open house, Orleans Department of Public Works, 4:00 PM
  • April 18, 2024: In-person open house, Dennis Council on Aging, 11:00 AM
  • April 24, 2024: Outreach table, in front of Provincetown Town Hall, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • April 29, 2024: Virtual public meeting, 6:00 PM (Zoom Link: www.capecodcommission.org/outreach/join or calling in to (929) 205-6099 and entering meeting ID 961 1903 7671)
  • May 2, 2024: Outreach table along the Old Colony Rail Trail at Brooks Park in Harwich, 9:00 –11:00 AM
  • May 7, 2024: Outreach table at the Cape Cod Rail Trail Station Ave parking lot in Yarmouth 3:00 – 5:00 PM 

A virtual public meeting of the Cape Cod MPO is scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2024 at 1:00PM to hear public comments and vote for potential endorsement. More information on this meeting can be found here

Overview

The Cape Cod Commission coordinates transportation planning activities under the guidance of the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), a collaboration of local, regional, state, and federal officials. The MPO, designated under federal transportation legislation following the 1990 United States Census, meets to review, direct, and vote on aspects and products of the transportation planning process.

The Cape Cod Joint Transportation Committee (CCJTC) is the transportation planning advisory group that reviews, discusses, and votes on recommendations to the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization.

The process by which the MPO solicits public involvement and cooperative decision-making as part of the transportation planning process is detailed in the MPO's Public Participation Plan (PPP).
