What is CalFresh?

CalFresh is California's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). CalFresh is financial aid for food! It is a nutrition assistance program that provides eligible students with up to $281 per month in the form of a cash grant to spend on groceries. It gives students the flexibility to buy the foods they love at their favorite grocery stores or farmers markets (Trader Joe’s, Costco, Vons, Food 4 Less, the downtown Farmers’ Market and more)!

How do I apply?

1. If your major is on this list, or you work an on-campus job, or you participate in EOP/TRIO/Cal Poly Scholars/CollegeCorps, click here to create a verification statement. Check your email and spam for verification statement.

You will also need screen shots or photos of the following:

2. Identity verification such as driver’s license, social security card or voter registration

3. Proof of rental/lease agreement. You can still apply without a mailing address!

4. Class schedule

5. Paystubs (if applicable)

6. Your financial aid award information, even if your award information appears as $0 or blank.

  • Log in to your Cal Poly portal, click on the “Money Matters” tab, under “Financial Aid & Scholarships” click “View my Financial Aid”, under “Student Records” click on “Financial Aid Summary”, select the Award Year and take a screenshot of the current year’s information.
