SOUTHINGTON - Rep. Chris Poulos and Superintendent of Schools Steve Madancy paid a visit to Strong Elementary School Tuesday to present the district's Teacher of the Year, Megan Evans, with a proclamation from the Connecticut General Assembly in recognition of her work as a literacy teacher.
Poulos and Madancy stopped into Evans' classroom, where she was teaching five fourth and fifth grade students. Evans has been a teacher for 17 years and has been a literacy specialist for 12 years. She was named the Southington School District's 2023-2034 Teacher of the Tear at a Board of Education meeting in July. She was also honored at the district's convocation in August.
