Distance Learning Programs

Bring the Campbell Creek Science Center to your digital classroom!  

Get ready to move, learn, and explore the natural sciences through the Campbell Creek Science Center’s (CCSC) distance learning programs. CCSC’s curricula give students hands-on, minds-on experiences with the natural world through digital technology. Guided by skilled environmental educators, your students will interact with each other in fun, practical ways to investigate science and build a team.  

Your support makes these programs possible and ensures the success of nature-based distance learning for students. If you are able, please consider making an optional donation when you sign up for a program. The suggested donation is $5 per participant or $140 per 60-minute session for up to 30 participants, but if this is not feasible any amount helps. Alaska Animals

Creekside Curiosities

Dynamic Glaciers 

glacierDiscover how ice has changed Alaska over time. Learn how glaciers form, move, and carve out the landscape. Hands-on activities and engaging demonstrations will have students moving like a glacier and carving out valleys.

Forest Ecology

Need to Know

  1. Programs meet national and state education standards, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) best practices.  

  2. Each program incorporates self-guided exploration with CCSC’s Nature Learning Resources to complement students' learning and retention.  

  3. Educators may choose from the suite of standard programs. Programs can also be customized to meet student learning objectives, cover diverse topics, or fit longer units over multiple days.  

  4. Programs are designed for 30-minute time blocks, with 15-minute learning extensions up to 45 or 60 minutes.  

  5. Programs are available Tuesdays-Fridays, 9:00 p.m-2:00 p.m. Alaska time (1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Eastern Time). Contact CCSC if you are interested in dates or times outside this schedule. 

  6. Program format takes place on Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Programs are adaptable to other online platforms. Typically, the school will host CCSC on your digital platform.

  7. All program requests require CCSC manager approval before official confirmation will be given. Confirmations may request an optional donation (MS1105).

  8. A CCSC instructor will contact you to discuss details and perform a connection test prior to your confirmed program.
