The City of Birmingham’s Hazards Mitigation Services team establishes guidelines for how the city and its shareholders share disaster preparedness information and conduct engagement with the community. Natural disasters such as flood, fire, tornadoes, and wind storms affect thousands of residents every year. Communities should know what their risks are and prepare to protect themselves and their communities.

The “Be Ready Bham” campaign focuses on empowering Birmingham’s residents, neighborhoods, and community groups to prepare for, respond to and mitigate emergencies, including natural disasters.
