Oakland International Airport Reports December 2020 Traffic

Feb. 2, 2021

145.4 million pounds of air cargo moved through Oakland International Airport (OAK) in December 2020, a 20 percent increase over December 2019. OAK is the top San Francisco Bay Area airport measured by air cargo traffic and the second busiest airport in the region for passenger traffic.

December 2020 passenger traffic at OAK decreased nine percent from what was reported for November 2020 as the State of California was under a Stay-At-Home order to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The airport saw 32,031 fewer passengers than it did in November.

“FEDEX and UPS posted significantly increased volumes this year compared to last indicating resiliency over the December holiday period,” said Bryant L. Francis, Port of Oakland Director of Aviation. “At the passenger terminals, we continue to focus on the well-being of airport employees and those who need to fly during the most acute phase of the pandemic crisis.”
