Further Processed Egg Products Verification Program

The Processed Egg and Egg Products Export Verification (PEEPEV) Program is a voluntary, user-fee service available to the egg processing industry. Once the application process is complete, the Program includes pre-approval and surveillance through a third-party verification procedure that processed egg products and hard-cooked eggs are wholesome for export.

All approved suppliers will produce product for export that is certified fit for human consumption in accordance with the Food and Drug Administration’s Current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). In addition to a review of the GMPs, on-site verification will also include applicable foreign government import requirements through an approved USDA Quality System Assessment (QSA) Program.

The QSA Program provides companies that supply agricultural products and services the opportunity to assure customers of their ability to provide consistent quality products or services. To operate an approved QSA Program, a company must develop and submit a documented program that meets the program requirements. The extent of the on-site verification process will be directly related to the complexity of the certification statements required by the foreign country of destination for the product.  Competent Livestock and Poultry Program auditors have the responsibility for reviewing and approving companies as eligible suppliers under the Processed Egg and Egg Products Export Verification Program. Once suppliers are approved under the Program, they are added to the Official Listing of Suppliers.
