(WHTM) – Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed four bills into law on Thursday.

The bills, SB 146SB 753HB 1234, and HB 1564, covered a multitude of issues.

Senate Bill 146 creates an exemption from fishing license requirements if the participant is part of a therapeutic recreation program.

The program must meet established standards and be under the direction of a supervising instructor who has a valid license.

The program’s sponsor must also apply for and receive permission from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s executive director.

House Bill 1564 creates new regulations for a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT).

Representative Melissa Cerrato (D-Montgomery) says her bill “would create a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT) credential for the Commonwealth to add crucial resources for mental health care providers.”

Cerrato says more than two dozen states have established similar credentials.

SB 753 “makes various technical changes and clarifications to the Borough Code.”

According to the bill’s summary, the new law “makes various technical changes and clarifications to the Borough Code… provides for the reduction of council membership from 7 to 5 or 3 members regardless of borough population, and conversely increase council size, repeals current provisions in the Borough Code regulating the accumulation and collection of garbage and other refuse materials and creates a new chapter 25B “Solid Waste Collection and Disposition.”

HB 1234 modernizes the Third Class City Code and passed unanimously in the State House and Senate.

The law authorizes a third class city “to appoint a partnership, limited partnership, association or professional corporation as the city administrator/manager.”

The law also specifies that only a city administrator/manager may also serve as the city chief fiscal officer.
