Summer Basketball

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department will begin registration for our upcoming youth summer basketball league for the following age groups: 6U (5-6 years old), 8U (7-8 years old), 10U (9-10 years old), and 12U (11-12 years old). Divisions are based off participants’ age as of January 1, 2024.

Youth Co-Ed Recreational Basketball is a great opportunity for participants to learn skills, practice teamwork and have fun while being physically active. This co-ed basketball league is structured to be a safe, recreational league aimed at beginner to intermediate players. This is a non-competitive league with volunteer coaches. Weekly practices are scheduled for eight weeks at Pan Am Recreation Center. A total of six games will be played in the season at Turner Roberts Recreation Center.

A reversible jersey and end of season award are included in the program fees.

Program Information
Ages: 5-12 years old as of January 1, 2024.
Program Time: 1 hour weekday practice with games on Saturdays. *Some age groups may play weeknights, depending upon the league.
Program Dates: Practices start the week of June 10, 2024. 6U/8U games will be played on Saturdays, beginning June 29th. 10U/12U games will be played on weeknights. (Monday through Friday)
NO GAMES WILL BE PLAYED DURING JULY 4TH WEEK.
Fees: $40 (Residents)/$70 (Non-Residents). *$10 late fee applied after May 11, 2024.


**Registration is required and will be available April 21 through May 10. Program space is limited, and registration is first come, first served. A $10 late fee will be applied for registration after May 11, 2024. There must be a minimum of 80% of the maximum participants registered in a division to conduct the league for that age group. Due to safety and fairness to the players, teams will not exceed the maximum number of participants.
**The Austin Parks and Recreation Department is looking for enthusiastic and supportive Volunteer Coaches to make a positive impact on the youth and teens in our community. In order for a team to form, a volunteer coach is needed for the league. If an age group does not have a coach, participants in that age group will be refunded in full. Please contact us if you’re interested in becoming a Volunteer Coach.

For the 2024-2025 After School Program, we are heading on a road trip across the United States. Every month, we are stopping at a different state where we’ll be playing games, creating food, and doing activities based on facts, sports, entertainment, and culture of that state. Get ready to travel!

The After School Program offers pickup from Zavala and UT Elementary School.

Not Your Average!
Join us this summer for weekly camp sessions that are ...ANYTHING BUT AVERAGE! We’ll play extreme sports, discover unusual art projects, and even try unique foods! Every week we’ll leave the center to swim at local City of Austin pools and attend field trips!

IMPORTANT: This summer, we are implementing a registration limit to three weeks per child. Meaning, you can sign your child up for no more than 3 weeks of summer camp. If you register for more than three weeks per child, you may be dropped out of any additional weeks at random and will not get to choose which weeks you keep, so please prepare for only three weeks. You may join the waitlist for as many weeks as you like but you can still only register for 3 weeks per child.

No school today? Don't sit at home all by yourself... Join us for a fun-filled kids day off. This program is offered on non-city holidays that are teachers' workdays. Each child is required to bring a non-refrigerated/non-microwaveable lunch and two snacks daily.

TEEN SUMMER CAMP | Pan Am Recreation Center | Programs | Summer Camp | Teen


Designed specifically for youth participants ages 12-15 years old, Teen Camp is ready for another exciting Summer! For 10 weeks, teen campers will explore Austin while traveling in a City of Austin van to awesome field trips as well as participate in fun games and activities at the recreation center. We’ll dive into topics relevant to teens, where campers will have an opportunity learn about themselves, gain valuable skills for the future, and discover their hidden potential. Teens will have the opportunity to participate in and lead a variety of activities including arts and crafts, games, cooking, outdoor adventures, and swimming at pools on most afternoons. Teen campers will be active throughout the summer!

The Breakfast Club Basketball Social offers a variety of 5v5 basketball games at the Oswaldo “A.B” Cantu/ Pan American Recreation Center. Our basketball club is for those looking to play competitively or casually while promoting positive sportsmanship.
