Familiarize children between the ages of 6 months and approximately 1.99 years with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. Provide safety information for parents and teach techniques parents can use to orient their children to the water.

Skills Taught

• Learning water safety behavior and getting comfortable with different depths.
• Underwater exploration—in shallow water or deep with the parents assistance
• Explore opening eyes and retrieve submerged or floating objects
• Learning to float, fall into the water kick and front craw with parents or independent
• Learning many survival skills like resurfacings and finding edge of pool and climbing out of the water.

Improve skills learned in Parent and Child Aquatics Level A and with more advanced skills. Continue to build on water safety knowledge.

Children are 2 years of age to 3.99.

Preschool Aquatics orientates preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic skills. These foundation skills, which can be performed with support at Level 1, are built upon on as they progress through the Preschool Aquatics and Learn-to-Swim levels. At this first level, children start developing positive attitudes and safe practices around the water.

(1) adult is allowed entry into the facility per (1) participant. To maintain social distance class capacities have been reduced and (1) Adult is required to be in the water with child participant. Masks are required outside of the water. Appropriate swim attire is required.

Level 1:Students 5-11 years of age will learn how to feel comfortable in the water and safely enjoy it.

Learn to Swim for Children III: Stroke Development builds on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice in deeper waters.
Prerequisite: Successful demonstration of Level 2 skills. SWIM ASSESSMENT IS STRONGLY ADVISED TO MEET LEVEL READINESS.

To maintain social distance class capacities have been reduced and (1) Adult should be prepared to enter the water with child participant when the necessary. Masks are required outside of the water. Appropriate swim attire is required.

Learning Objectives:
• Headfirst entry from the side in sitting and kneeling positions
• Bobbing while moving toward safety
• Rotary breathing
• Several types of floating positions
• Tread water
• Push off in a streamlined position then begin flutter and dolphin kicks on front
• Front crawl and elementary backstroke
• Scissors kick
• Water safety topics.
